When Trainer Battles launch, Trainers will be able to practice battling against team leaders Spark, Candela and Blanche. Use your extra move to surprise opponents or cover your weaknesses. With an additional Charged Attack, Trainers have the opportunity to think strategically when approaching each battle. With the launch of Trainer Battles, Trainers will be able to permanently unlock one additional Charged Attack move for each Pokémon. While Trainers will usually have to be nearby in order to initiate a Trainer Battle, Ultra and Best Friends can challenge each other from any distance. If you don’t knock out all of your opponent’s Pokémon before a battle’s time limit is reached, the victor will be decided by whoever has the most KO’s. Each Trainer Battle requires Trainers to choose three Pokémon to battle with, so be strategic when selecting the Pokémon for your battle party. With Trainer Battles right around the corner, Niantic is giving you an even closer look at all the Trainer Battle features it previewed in its recent Trainer Battle blog-starting with the basics. You’ll also be working toward earning the Ace Trainer medal. If you’re looking to improve your Trainer Battle skills, take on team leaders Spark, Candela, and Blanche! You can earn daily rewards when training with a team leader, including Stardust to help power up your Pokémon. But you can challenge Trainers you’re Ultra Friends or Best Friends with from any distance. Your opponent will usually have to be nearby for you to initiate a Trainer Battle. But you only have a limited number of Protect Shields before your Pokémon will be left defenseless against big attacks. If you keep an eye on your opponent’s moves, you may be able to deploy a Protect Shield to save your Pokémon from taking critical damage. Battles aren’t just about who has the toughest Pokémon and the strongest moves. You’ll also be able to use Stardust and Candy prior to battle to unlock a bonus Charged Attack for your Pokémon. The fast-paced battles take place in real time, and your Pokémon will be able to use both their Fast Attack and Charged Attack moves. To make sure the battle is even, Trainers must compete in the same Trainer Battle League, which determines the highest CP permitted for the participating Pokémon. When the match is over, both participants will receive great rewards, including a chance at rare Evolution items. With Trainer Battles, you can match up against another Trainer using a Battle Code, then face off using teams of three Pokémon. Just stop calling their relationship a lesbian relationship, and stop saying that Blanche “obviously has to be a girl”.Soon you’ll be able to challenge another Trainer at any time in Pokémon GO. This is harmful, but so easy to stop doing. It erases their nb identity and replaces it with a binary one. This harms all nb people, regardless of their assigned gender or physical characteristics. When you call their relationship a lesbian relationship, you are telling every nb person who identifies with Blanche that they are “really just a girl” regardless of their actual identity. Just don’t put a label on them that is strictly for women, because Blanche… Isn’t a woman. You can still make headcanons, fics, fan art. Can you all let Blanche be for the rest of us, who don’t fall into the binary? We hardly ever get represented, we are usually completely ignored in fictional works.Īgain, this isn’t hate for Blanche/Candela! I’m just asking, on behalf of everyone who doesn’t fit into the gender binary, to stop calling their relationship a lesbian relationship. Candela is even dark skinned! I love her design! So, if you are a girl or a guy, you have a character to relate to. The other two characters are more clearly gendered, as a girl (Candela) and a boy (Spark). I love this! I am nb, and it makes me feel proud to have chosen Team Mystic before I even saw the leader! Blanche’s design isn’t specifically gendered. A large number of nb people immediately recognized themselves in Blanche, enough to be more than just a coincidence. My issue is with the terms being used to refer to them. Everyone around him thought he was too eccentric and therefore dorky. He wasnt very good at anything, even though he tried his best. Spark never really fit in with the other kids. So, since the Pokemon Go team leaders were announced, I’ve seen that there’s a large number of people rooting for a Blanche/Candela relationship! This is lovely! I totally support this ship! Years ago, Candela, Blanche and Spark were in grade school, like any other kid their age.

In fact, it doesn’t quite feel like this is a moment he’s been waiting for all his life. The electronic samples are clean and succinct and there’s a satisfying crispness to the sound when the drums finally kick in.īut there’s a slight lack of fullness to the sound that robs the beats of their full texture and solidity, and Collins’ voice is missing that last bit of aching anguish. It’s precise, and that lends an excellent sense of drive to the sound and allows us to pick up some beautifully clear moments of detail too. Listening to In The Air Tonight by Phil Collins on Tidal, we’re impressed by the Chromecast’s sense of rhythm. Soundĭolby Atmos is the big performance addition for this Chromecast and there’s plenty of it available throughout the apps and services on the platform. There’s a cave scene where the background is not easy to make out compared to the actors in the foreground but, again, this feels very much a fault of the source material rather than one of the playback device. Light levels are, of course, not quite as expertly handled as when there is HDR to help. Star Trek Next Generation is understandably on the noisy side but it’s still colour-accurate from the muted beige tones of the Enterprise decor to the bright blues of Dr Crusher’s uniform. Stepping down to 1080p material, the visual experience is obviously less stellar. Colours are deep and natural as we see the orange shoulders of the space suits, and there’s no lack of detail or subtlety to the waffled blue material of their hoods. There’s nothing lost to the shadows in the darker corners of the image and the patches of bright light are so distinct and clear that it gives everything a wonderfully clinical feel. The metal seatbelts holding the Robinson family to their chairs look chunky, strong and solid, and their fishbowl space helmets reflect the scene light as clearly as optical lenses. The opening sequences of the series show great lustre in the set and costume design. It’s a sharp, textured and well exposed picture that’s a credit to the HDR source material. There’s almost nothing to separate the two as we watch Lost In Space in Dolby Vision. Pictureįor picture quality, the Chromecast with Google TV is right up there with the best video streamers at its price, including its nearest rival, the five-star Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K. In fact, for usability and recommendations, Chromecast with Google TV is the best media streamer on the market. As well as requesting specific TV shows, music and movies, you can make more general requests such as ‘Show me films about time travel’ or similar. As expected, the voice recognition is nearly flawless and a decent way of getting to what you want and quickly. You can teach it to control the power and volume on your TV and use it as the microphone for the Google Assistant voice searches on Google TV. The new remote control is tactile and well thought out. You can refine the AI by telling it what you’ve already seen but, even from the off, it has a pretty decent handle on our tastes. When you track down a film or TV show that you have rights to watch on multiple services, Google TV gives you the choice of service and will even default to the cheapest or free option where possible, rather than trying to sell you the version from Google’s own catalogue.Īvailable films and TV programmes are organised into helpful rows of suggestions, including quite a few categories we’ve never seen on other services, such as Neo-noir, Futuristic Shows, Films about Robots and Space exploration movies. From here, you can adjust the game quality from low up to high - depending on your hardware, which you select will change. Once you’ve begun a session and you’re streaming a game to your PC, head to the ‘Streaming’ tab in the menu of Virtual Desktop. If you’re finding the experience is close to playable but still has a bit of noticeable latency or a few hiccups, we recommend turning everything down until you see a level of stability that you’re happy with. You’ve got everything set up and ready to go, there are a few settings you can tweak that might improve the reliability and performance of your experience.Īll of the settings will differ on a per-person basis - different internal networks and routers will likely see different results with each setting. Speaking of routers, in general terms you’ll need a ‘reliable’ Wi-Fi router with a 5Ghz network. Also make sure your computer is connected via ethernet to your router and not wirelessly - the stability and higher speed is essential. You’ll also still need the Oculus PC app installed, along with Steam and SteamVR if you want to play non-Oculus content. You will still need a VR-ready PC, just like Oculus Link. Virtual Desktop allows you to bring your computer’s display into VR, providing you with a streamed version of your desktop that you can interact with and control from within VR. However, Virtual Desktop provides another way to play PC VR content on your Quest - it’s a wireless and unofficial solution, with the trade-off that reliability can vary between users, depending on their setup.
